Jobs2Hope: Mission Accomplished!

We are excited to report that through the Jobs2Hope Initiative, we exceeded our goal to create and retain 1,000 jobs in Southern Africa with a total impact of 1,104 created and sustained through 2011!
This success was achieved through the direct support of 737 small farms and businesses with access to capital, mentoring, networking, training and coaching, as we walked alongside three of our core partnerships in Zambia, Mozambique and South Africa.
Highlights of Jobs2Hope:
3 Core Partners: AfricaWorks, SAHAC, All Kids Can Learn
737 Small farms and businesses
1,104 Jobs created and sustained
Best Practices Identified:
We identified key Best Practices as we fulfilled the primary goal of Jobs2Hope and grew dynamic, market-driven businesses that created jobs, developed skills and provided sustainable income for HIV/AIDS-vulnerable populations and caretakers of orphans and vulnerable children.
1.Ownership: The business owner has a higher rate of success when they have a strong sense of ownership. When their business venture was their idea and they had a lead role in implementation, there was a much higher chance of success.
2.Succession planning: Building leadership inside and outside the organization with the goal of sustainability without external intervention.
3.Social Capital: Leveraging and focusing on communities with whom we have the strongest connections, and have already established social capital, saves time, money, and energy.
