Making a difference in Hyderabad India
In Hyderabad, India, a city of over 7 million people, hundreds of thousands struggle to cope with shortage of space, high cost of accommodations, and lack of employment opportunities. This is where Christian business owners like Grace Gazula make a difference.
A former HR manager of two corporations in India, Grace joined Business Seva, the local affiliate of Partners Worldwide, bringing years of business experience and a strong Christian calling to share with her peers.
“Within Business Seva, we meet monthly to learn from others in business,” says Grace. “There are also people who guide and
encourage us as businesspeople. Some of them are pastors, who give us great hope and faith—how to ask God what He wants us to do.”
As a Christian businesswoman employing 21 people, she says her calling is to build relationships with her employees and client-base. “People come to Christian businesses looking for jobs. Without even placing an advertisement, strangers come to us to inquire about positions,” says Grace, who has grown the business Ark Med Solutions from merely six employees upon launching it in 2008.
“People love to work for Christian companies. We are transparent, God-fearing, and work for the growth of the company.”
Within the world’s fastest growing economy, Grace’s business provides high-quality transcriptions of patient records for physicians and healthcare professionals in the U.S. and Hyderabad. The process requires trust and partnership, she describes.
“We are in a society where there are so many temptations as a businessperson,” says Grace. “Every second I have, I praise God for guiding me through it.”
Her employees range in age from 20 to 60 years old, including Christians and Muslims, she describes. As they watch her run the business, they also look to her as a counselor who treats them like family.
“If they’re struggling in something, we have a word of prayer and I share that God will take care of them. Some have converted and become Christians. Praise God!”
