How One Haitian is Serving His Community Through Business
Daniel’s guest house provides travelers in Pignon, Haiti with a safe and welcoming place to stay—but it’s about much more than that for him. He opened his guest house to build community.
Community is an integral part of Haitian culture. It is understood that when wealth is created, it is meant to be shared. And when hardships are experienced, a helping hand is always there to lift you up.
This communal perspective is ingrained in Daniel and his desire to serve others through business.
Daniel’s servant heart also motivated him to help establish the Partners Worldwide network in Pignon fifteen years ago.
Daniel came together with PW staff and fellow entrepreneurs to found CEPI (the Club of Entrepreneurs in Pignon), with a mission to transform their city through job creation.
Today, CEPI has fourteen members—all entrepreneurs from Pignon.
They regularly meet with one another to share their successes, failures, and dreams for the future with one another as they work to create jobs and end poverty in Pignon.
And Daniel has big dreams.
“God created me to love and serve,” he shares. “I want to leave something behind to help others.”
Daniel dreams of opening more guest houses, as well as training and mentoring other aspiring entrepreneurs. He sees the opportunity to not only help those in Pignon and Haiti—but all across the world.
