How Lorena Serves as a Passionate Coach in Her Community

In 2019, Lorena and her husband, Danny, opened a bodega in Santa Rosa, where they lived with their two teenaged children. In this coastal Ecuadorian town, they sold rice, cooking oil, juice, snacks, and more.

When the pandemic struck just a few months after opening their doors, Danny noticed a growing need for sanitizing supplies within their community. Trusting in God, Lorena and Danny pivoted and began selling cleaning supplies. That same year, they welcomed a new child into their family.

But then, in 2021, Danny passed away of a heart attack.

A Network of Support

As Lorena mourned the loss of her husband, she worried over her family’s future. She knew she would have to step up and shoulder the responsibility of the bodega if she wished to provide for her three children. She just didn’t know how.

As Lorena struggled, she turned to God. And through Him, she found the partner she needed.

Through her church, Lorena connected with El Oro Partners. Through this local partner of Partners Worldwide (PW), Lorena gained the support she needed to navigate this difficult time.

Lorena enrolled in the PW business training facilitated by El Oro Partners, where she learned how to manage her business. Coaching helped her objectively examine her business and identify what was working and what wasn’t. And the encouragement of a global network instilled Lorena with the confidence she needed to succeed.

Giving Back

As Lorena put what she learned into practice, her business quickly grew. She soon expanded, doubling the size of the bodega and hiring her niece. This enabled her to send her oldest son to college.

As she looked at all that she had accomplished, Lorena knew she wanted to give back. She became one of El Oro’s business coaches, providing the kind of invaluable support she received to the next generation of entrepreneurs. Today, Lorena is one of El Oro’s most passionate volunteers, walking alongside an ever-growing number of businesspeople in our network.

It’s an incredible example of the multiplying effect partnership can have, and why relationships are at the heart of the Partners Worldwide model. Together, we can create a world where all can live abundantly.
