2015-16 Highlights: Creating Jobs, Building Local Capacity
This past year we celebrated over 120,000 jobs created and sustained throughout our 27 countries of operation. These numbers indicate growth and strength among our global network of partners, but they also indicate something else: that our reality is beginning to match our vision.
We envision a network that is linked, not ranked, and celebrates innovation wherever it is found.
We dream of a network in which there is no “us to them,” but there is only “we.”
Our guiding strategy to achieve this is Global by Design, and it is working to prioritize local leadership and sustainability. These metrics encourage us that we are on the right track.
We are particularly excited that the number of local business mentors in our network grew by 81% this year, with 976 active mentors now encouraging and supporting entrepreneurs in their own communities.
We believe that local mentorship and ownership are necessary to ending poverty and we remain committed to building up local capacity as we move forward.
